The INATEL Foundation describes the fourth edition of their POPular – INATEL na Rua Festival as “an initiative that aims to disseminate traditional cultural practices, in fulfillment of its mission and as a UNESCO consultant to safeguard the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Portugal.”
They’ve been partying and safeguard culture since May, and for the last two weekends in September they’re throwing two final three-day celebrations — one in Ajuda and the other in Jardim da Estrela.
Theater, dance, music, ethnography, sports, games — and, in the words of INATEL, “vehicles of associative work performed by thousands of citizens dedicated to the valorization and dissemination of traditional culture” — are just some of the cultural fun ahead.
