to Sept 30 | WEIRD EXHIBIT | A World of Masks | Bica | FREE
“Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.”
Um Mundo de Máscaras (“A World of Masks) is an art exhibit brought to you, quite appropriately, by the Pharmacy Museum of Lisbon.
Here’s how they describe it:
“Establishing a bridge between the present and the past, we propose a trip to different continents, over the centuries, through masks, an element that has become part of the daily lives of all citizens of the world, a symbol of the diversity that exists between civilizations, countries, cultures, and peoples.
Revealing the historical interest of the mask throughout the course of human history, this exhibition brings together 14 copies of masks from different museums and cultures, from healer masks to sorcerer masks, from protection to tradition, from theater to ceremony.
“A World of Masks”, also has an Augmented Reality component, a technology that allows you to project virtual content, such as images, in the real world. Through simple reading with a mobile phone with QR Code reader, the visitor will be able to travel in time and ‘wear’, in a virtual way, the masks that make up the exhibition.
We recall that the virtual exhibition, still available at http://www.ummundodemascaras.com, was inaugurated on May 18, International Museum Day, having been received with great enthusiasm by the public, registering so far more than 9,000 visitors.”
Daily, 10h to 19h, to September 30th.
