“An artistic archipelago that reflects on different ways of living together
MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology presents Archipelago, an exhibition by French artist Hervé Di Rosa that brings together over 200 works created between the 1980s and the present day from his personal collection and private and public collections.
Hervé Di Rosa, a pioneer of the French Figuration Libre movement, is one of the most significant contemporary artists in France. The “Archipelago” exhibition reflects on different ways of living together, proposing a space where art, crafts, popular culture, and contemporary creation come together. In the artist’s words, “An archipelago is a collection of islands that are together in a relatively undefined area. The idea of the archipelago is to show that art is not a fixed, defined territory but a set of creative processes that can coexist and interact in many different ways.”
Archipelago presents a vast array of works that reflect the artist’s playful and colorful universe, in which different forms of expression come together, such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, tapestry, and design. The exhibition is divided into several thematic areas that highlight different aspects of Hervé Di Rosa’s creative process, such as his relationship with popular culture, the influence of crafts and folk art, and his use of color.
The exhibition also includes a section dedicated to the artist’s collaborations with artisans and designers, where visitors can see some of the pieces created in partnership with the Ateliers d’Art de France, the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, and the Ateliers Lison de Caunes.
Archipelago invites visitors to immerse themselves in Hervé Di Rosa’s unique universe, where art, culture, and everyday life come together in a joyful celebration of creativity and diversity.”
