“Art Jameel supports artists and creative communities. Founded and supported by the Jameel family philanthropies, the independent organisation is headquartered in Saudi Arabia and the UAE and works globally. Art Jameel’s programmes – across exhibitions, commissions, research, learning, and community-building – are grounded in a dynamic understanding of the arts as fundamental to life and accessible to all.”
And here’s how Lisbon’s MAAT (The Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology) describes part of this summer:
“The third block of film screenings in collaboration with Art Jameel and curated by Rósín Tapponi will be on show at maat until September 6! Featuring At the Time of the Ebb (2019) by Alia Farid, Mother of Fire (2019) by Farah al Qasimi, and The Sky Oscillates Between Eternity and Its Immediate Consequences (2021) by Nadim Choufi, the third block speaks of the local residents’ performances during the “Fisherman’s New Year” at the Arabian Gulf, of the colonisation and breakneck modernisation of the region of Ras Al Khaimah, and of the promise of futuristic smart and ‘sustainable’ cities.
Find the full programme on our website and see you at maat for the screenings!”
