Muyassar Kurdi is a Chicago-born and New York City-based multimedia artist who works with sounds, vocals, performance art, photography, and film. She has composed and performed music for voice, harmonium, piano, lyre, autoharp, theremin, bass, and cello. Nowadays, she often incorporates homemade electronic instruments and sculpture into her vocal and dance performances, according to her website, “stirring a plethora of emotions from her audience members through vicious noise, ritualistic chants, and meditative movements.”
Now Myussar is in Lisbon. Her new performance, “Vast Geographies (part two),” and latest 16mm short film titled “Field Dance,” are what’s happening at the Zaratan art gallery this Friday.
Entry is 3€ (with a monthly membership).
Vicious noise, ritualistic chants, and meditative movements? Sounds like a complete Friday night to us.
Here is Muyassar being here before.
