Há Pitéu

A cozy joint away from the craziness of the neighborhood

This small but somehow spacious spot brings traditional food back to Bairro Alto. It’s a welcome oasis of legitimacy in a neighborhood where “authentic” Italian/Indian/Portuguese combination restaurants abound. The varied menu has scrumptious meats, fish, and vegetarian options perfect to share or hoard all to yourself. Try the braised rabbit, the duck confit, and the veal carpaccio if you’re feeling carnivorous, or the mussels with cilantro, tuna steak on a hot stone, or the house specialty, Portuguese seafood rice, if you’re in the mood for something from the sea. Our veggie friends were particularly taken with the ratatouille, crispy potato skins, and the cured cheese plate — and that’s saying something!
