Lisbon’s Centro de Arte Moderna encapsulates architecture’s inflation problem | The Financial Times

“[A]n insanely expensive covered walkway which solves a non-existent problem” is the way The Financial Times describes Kengo Kuma’s design for the “engawa,” the “100-metre run of walkway covered by a pagoda-style, white-tile-clad roof” in front of the redesigned  Centro de Arte Moderna at the Gulbenkian.

The FT adds, “The presence of the Gulbenkian across the park demonstrates clearly that progress in architecture is not a given.”
