For a smattering of well-made traditional petiscoes like granny used to make (and all priced at around 5€ each), this local spot between Cais do Sodré and Santos is a must. From pica pau and mussles to marinated veggies and padrão peppers, the usual suspects are all represented, but the flavor of each consistently exceeds expectations. The main dishes aren’t to be overlooked: try the bochechas (pork cheeks) that melt in your mouth, the codfish that tastes like it has been marinating in angels’ tears since it was caught, or opt for the grilled sausage platter if you’re keen to split something just the right amount of greasy. If you’re thirsty, the wine list is more than enough to keep you busy, or you can get one of their signature cocktails. Whatever you decide, be sure to save room for dessert.
