Friendly place, friendly staff, friendly prices; the perfect comfort food for a proper hangover. It all boils down to that deliciously greasy whiff of fresh air in an otherwise heavily touristic area. While the line grows long down the way at the famous pastry shop (yes, that one) for a bite-sized morsel, this place is slinging over 50 different varieties of super-sublime sandwiches on baguettes for under 4€, and at half the pace. There are Mediterranean options, Middle-Eastern shoarma-style variations, and plenty of the plain old ham and cheese with different toppings if you can’t stomach the idea of being inventive. Most of the clients here have just come off a bender and are coasting in on fumes until the end of the month, but somehow everyone’s on their best behavior anyway, so keep it classy when you join them.
