Just a quick stroll uphill from Lisbon’s Sé Cathedral, you’ll find a haven for pizza lovers seeking that proper Aperol spritz (or Negroni), bruschetta, and pizza combo more often found near the Colosseum in Rome, which is where the franchise originated in 1958, according to their website. All pizzarias in this chain use local and artisanal products and slow-leavening bio doughs, and this franchise is no exception. And if bitter pink cocktails aren’t your thing, the wine list is extensive and covers both Portuguese and Italian regions.
We decided to start with a bottle of Vinho Verde, split between our large party of eight people. Both the vegetarians and the carnivores in our group were pleasantly surprised by the wealth of options on offer both for the appetizers and the pizzas. We opted for the Margarita, the Cocciuta, the Gaggia, and the Capricciosa to share between us, which certainly did not disappoint and was plenty to feed us all while allowing room for dessert: the creamy panna cotta and tiramisu.
While the space is a decent size, it is often difficult to grab a table as this spot is quite popular with the locals. However, it can accommodate larger parties if booked in advance and does offer to-go service, which has a very quick turnaround from order to delivery.
