Plans for Lisbon’s Second Airport in Montijo Gets the Red Light from Regulators | Público (PT)

Project for an airport in Montijo is brought to a halt.

The Autoridade Nacional da Aviação Civil (ANAC – National Civil Aviation Authority) rejected a request from Aeroportos de Lisboa for a preliminary assessment to determine the feasibility of building an airport in Montijo

ANAC reportedly denied the request because they did not have unanimous consensus from all the City Councils that would potentially be affected by the new airport, which they require by law to proceed.

The councils of Moita and Seixal, both CDU (Communist Party) strongholds, were the ones to oppose the plan.
