In exciting news for football fans, Portugal has been earmarked as a strong candidate for the Champions League final after UEFA didn’t get the exemption guarantees it was looking for to host it in Wembley.
This opportunity comes after UK government officials, the Football Association, and UEFA decided to move the final from Turkey following its placement on the “red list” for UK travel. Portugal, on the other hand, is one of a few “green list” countries, meaning fans could travel freely.
If the match is moved to Portugal, it may be held in Porto or Lisbon, which also hosted last year’s final. This could mean even more UK tourists in what is already set to be a bumper year for British visitors to Portugal.
