Mass immigration — “mass” anything — tends to do that, so the headline appears to be aimed at making someone already angry angrier still, but this commentary is worth a read. If anything, to get an idea of what to expect from the more right-of-center politicians in Portugal in the coming months.

“In 2022, Portugal issued 143,000 new residency permits or almost 1.5% of the nation’s entire official population. That is almost three times France’s panic-inducing, politically explosive figure, and comparable to few countries in Europe, with only Britain, the Netherlands, and Germany having higher entry rates,” Rafael Pinto Borges writes in The European Conservative.
