A new take on the tasca, Povo promotes emerging fadistas with its Artist Residency program. While it used to serve petisco-style items like padron peppers and peixinhos da horta, it seems now it is impossible to find a dish for under 10 euros aside from a few salgadas. The pork cheeks are well worth the hefty price tag as the dish can certainly serve two or more, but the rest of the menu falls a bit flat.
While the location and the talent guarantee a crowd, it’s a shame that effort isn’t being put into the menu anymore. And while the performances used to be free along with your dinner, there’s now a 5€ per person fee to enjoy the talent. It’s a shame that 2/3 of the things we used to love about this place have now been stripped away along with the original interior. The renovations, in our opinion, went way too far.
