Reflector #6: Honig – “Portugal”

“Reflector” is a series Atlas correspondent David Soares has undertaken to bring to your attention songs by non-Portuguese bands inspired — in many cases, rather mysteriously — by the westernmost European nation.

Honig is a German band named after singer-songwriter Stefan Honig. The band retired last year after a career spanning a dozen years and four albums, all sung in English. Their debut Treehouse included this guileless and – being true to their name – honeyed  “Portugal”, about the promise of a tryst down by the seaside, in other words, far from their native Düsseldorf.
