Sabores na Travessa

A great local stop-over on your way up (or down) the hill

In Bairro Alto, it can be difficult to find authentic Portuguese pratos, but look no further than this hole-in-the-wall. With perfectly-prepared iscas and bochechas (cow’s liver and black pig cheeks) at a very fair price, you can’t go wrong, unless you’re looking for something a little more straightforward and a little less cheeky. If that’s the case, yo can get a mighty fine tosta mista and a draft beer for peanuts. No matter what you order, the plate will come with a smile and a thumbs-up from the cheerful mustached cook behind the counter.
