On a quiet side street near São Sebastião, Suzana Restaurant is the kind of place you stumble upon accidentally and end up mentally booking your next visit before dessert. With soft lighting, understated charm, and an easy elegance that doesn’t try too hard, Suzana sets the tone for a meal that feels both elevated and delightfully approachable. It’s the sister restaurant to nearby Cacué, and like at its sibling, its chef understands how to let good ingredients do most of the talking.

After a proper negroni and rosé by the glass, we gobbled up the lamb croquettes — little parcels of deeply satisfying gamey richness — and the crab soup, beautifully seasoned with a touch of white pepper and a whisper of anise. Next up, peixinhos da horta (aka tempura green beans) followed, bringing the right amount of crunch and melt-in-your-mouth gooeyness, helped along by a tangy homemade mayo. So far so great.

Then came the main act. We shared the roast beef platter, served perfectly rare alongside golden french fries and the kind of friendly service that’s never hovering but omnipresent. And then came the cheesecake, which I’m still thinking about. No jammy distractions or frilly garnish—just a bold, unapologetic wedge of creamy perfection that, honestly, rivals my mom’s. (Sorry, Mom.)

And if you’re wondering about value —  this entire refined, unpretentious, flavor-packed experience was about 25€ per person (not including drinks). That’s not just good; that’s suspiciously good.

In short: go now, before the secret’s out. Suzana is quietly redefining what a modern Lisbon restaurant can be, and I’m here for it.
