Greasy, goofy, and gloriously unhinged — in the best possible way

There are places you go for dinner. There are places you go to throw sharp objects. And then there’s USAxe Club at LX Factory, where you can do both.
If you’ve ever found yourself craving a juicy American-style smash burger and a bit of medieval stress relief, this is the place for you. If you’re new to throwing axes, the on-site “Axe Masters” will walk you through best practices to hurl hardware at a wooden wall with just enough instruction to make it feel safe, but not too safe. (Safety, of course, is important, but a little danger pairs well with pulled pork.)
Which brings me to the menu. Let’s start with the mac and cheese: gooey, golden, and devastating to your arteries. The burgers are no-nonsense, classic slabs with all the fixings. The pulled pork is tender and well-seasoned, though not revolutionary (let’s not kid ourselves — this isn’t Memphis), but it’s one of the only places in Lisbon that serves it, so I’m not mad at it.
And yes, they serve mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, and wings, all of which are perfectly greasy and engineered for maximum U.S.A. diner nostalgia.
So is USAxe Club good? Not in the sense that a Michelin-starred bistro is good. But it is a damn good time. You leave full, slightly buzzed, and with the vague sense that you’ve accomplished something — thanks to a 15-minute session with a ten-pound (4,5 kilo) axe.
All in all, the vibe is distinctly U.S. frat house meets corporate team-building seminar, but in a fun, “let’s-make-bad-decisions-together” kind of way. Go for the novelty, stay for the fries, and release your inner Viking — responsibly.
