Alexéi Tolpygo and Carlos Maria Trindade are what happens when classical training gets bored and rebels. Tolpygo, a violinist with the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa who happens to love heavy metal, meets Trindade: synth pioneer, producer, and founding force behind Heróis do Mar and Madredeus. Tarsem Singh’s The Fall is every bit as gorgeous as it is naughty, with a twist of morphine. This isn’t fantasy as escape — it’s fantasy as manipulation, therapy, and ethical minefield, so basically, it’s perfect for families. “Habitar Portugal” covers a century’s worth of architectural ambition, ideology, and strong opinions about concrete. One hundred projects later, you’ll leave convinced that buildings are just society arguing with itself in slow motion, depending on the contractor. Latvian stop-motion puppets have landed in Lisbon, and they’ve brought 60 years of beautifully handcrafted weirdness with them. This exhibition pulls back the curtain on Animācijas Brigāde, where felt, wire, and patience take your imagination to the next level. Prepare for a crash course in alchemy, but without the mystic cosplay— or at least that’s what we gather. This installation/workshop experiments with glass, ceramics, heat, gravity, time, and mystery, and on this day, you can register in advance to hear from the artist and curator (25 people max). Calling all Hypercolor film buffs: Tron is screening at the old Cinema Roma, reminding us that the future once looked like glowing spandex on wheels.
